Alexander Isak misses training with Sweden squad due to ‘little feeling’ – 10 days until Newcastle United play
After two goals in his first three Premier League games for Newcastle United, Alexander Isak has joined the Swedish squad.
A busy start has seen the former Real Sociedad take on a lot of responsibility, with the likes of Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Bruno Guimaraes all injured.
Bruno returned on Saturday but was clearly not fully fit, the hope is that as Saturday October 1 approaches and Newcastle are back in action, Alexander Isak will be able to line up alongside the likes of a fully fit Bruno Guimaraes and Callum Wilson, but according to Eddie Howe, ASM is behind the others when it comes to getting back to full fitness.
Elliot Anderson is another who missed out on Bournemouth on Saturday, but Eddie Howe is only saying less and the teenager will also be in the squad for the match at Fulham in ten days’ time.
However, not the best news today from the Sweden camp, but hopefully just a precautionary measure.
Alexander Isak turns 23 today but doesn’t exactly celebrate. The Athletic reported that he has not been able to train with the rest of Sweden’s players, due to what the Swedish Football Association describes as a “little feeling” and therefore had to sit out of full squad training, instead only training alone.
Hopefully nothing to worry about but not the kind of news Newcastle fans, or indeed Alexander Isak will need.
Sweden has matches away to Serbia on Saturday and at home to Slovenia on Tuesday, both are only Nations League matches so you can imagine that Sweden will only play Isak if he is 100%.
There are still ten days to go until Newcastle play Fulham, so we hope it really is just a niggle that Alexander Isak can shake off and then belatedly celebrate his 23rd birthday with the winner at Craven Cottage.
