Markus Rejek introduced as the new managing director
1. FC Köln has strengthened its club management with another person: Markus Rejek is coming as the new managing director of Arminia Bielefeld, who have been relegated to the Bundesliga.
Markus Rejek becomes the new managing director at Bundesliga club 1. FC Köln. The previous managing director of relegated Arminia Bielefeld will start work on November 1st on the side of Christian Keller and Philipp Türoff. The club announced this on Monday one day before the general meeting, at which the board of directors with President Werner Wolf and his deputies Eckhard Sauren and Carsten Wettich are standing for re-election. “We are pleased that he will complete our management on November 1st,” said Wolf.
Before the general meeting, the board also announced that it wanted to take civil action against the rioters from the conference league game at OGC Nice. Extensive data is currently being evaluated by the police, said Wolf in an interview with the “Kölnische Rundschau” (Tuesday).
After riots in Nice: Club threatens stadium bans
“We will remain in contact with the police on this. As soon as we have this information, we will consistently withdraw stadium bans for Cologne and season tickets as well as club memberships at the civil law level, which we can influence ourselves, if they are members,” announces the president on. The German Football Association (DFB) is responsible for nationwide stadium bans.
At the same time, the board criticized the security measures in Nice. “We expected the police to be at and in the stadium. If that had been the case, these riots would not have happened,” said Vice President Wettich. Wolf added: “I expect a city that, with 2.6 million visitors per year, is one of the most visited in Europe, to be able to deal with something like this and, for example, to have a security and waste concept. The organization didn’t work in many places.”
A total of 32 people were injured in clashes before the game kicked off, including two police officers and a steward.
