Tyrol election campaign in the home straight | PULSE 24
The Tyrolean state election campaign is approaching the home stretch next week and the campaigners have to mobilize again before the checkered flag is hoisted. In addition to press conferences, television discussions and the closing events of the parties on Thursday, these are different. The majority of the election campaign conclusions take place in the greater Innsbruck area, only the ÖVP commits this “probably” in East Tyrolean Nikolsdorf.
Because the exact planning has not yet been completed and Nikolsdorf is not yet completely fixed, party spokeswoman Kathrin Baumann told APA. Nikolsdorf is the easternmost municipality in East Tyrol and thus in the entire federal state. ÖVP top candidate and party leader Anton Mattle officially started the election campaign on September 3 in his home town of Galtür, the westernmost municipality in Tyrol. Then the election campaign bus drove across Tyrol – right up to the easternmost corner of the country. On Saturday, Mattle and his state party, who are under heavy pressure, will fight for every voter in the Landeck district over the last few meters. The black candidate for governor and his team refrained from larger campaign rallies.
The SPÖ and its top candidate Georg Dornauer will only celebrate the end of the election campaign on Saturday – and this, as in the last state election, in front of Innsbruck’s landmark, the Golden Roof in the city center. The event started at 10 a.m., with speeches beginning at 11 a.m. A band will also play, announced state manager Lukas Matt to the APA. The party is expecting 200 visitors, federal party leader Pamela Rendi-Wagner will not be present.
The Tyrolean FPÖ and their “province governor candidate” Markus Abwerzger, on the other hand, will hold their final on Friday evening in the market town of Telfs west of Innsbruck in the form of a rally. This takes place on the “Eduard Wallnöfer Platz” near the town hall of all places – named after the legendary, legendary ÖVP governor. FPÖ presidential candidate Walter Rosenkranz will once again provide support for Abwerzger. This is next to the state party chairman as the second main speaker on the program. Incidentally, the FPÖ already invites you to a press conference on Monday entitled “Tyrol is finally going back to civil society – presentation of the government program of the Tyrolean FPÖ – 100 days of the FPÖ governor.”
The Greens, however, make the start in terms of election campaign conclusions. Because as early as Thursday afternoon, the governing party invites you to the Innsbruck market square, where the sympathizers are to be finally sworn in again. The top candidate Gebi Mair and list second Petra Wohlfahrtstätter will take the floor, said it from the party to the APA. The European Mobility Week should obviously also play a role in the green finale. A final press conference is also planned for the last week of the election campaign.
Meanwhile, List Fritz is doing the same as the SPÖ and will only end its election campaign – at least officially – on Saturday. The scene for the final hours of the election campaign is the center of Hall’s old town, which is very busy at the time. On top of that, the weekly farmer’s market takes place there on the upper town square. Top candidate Andrea Haselwanter-Schneider and list runner-up Markus Sint will once again campaign for votes. According to a spokesman, the Rathauscafe will also be the scene of the opposition list’s election campaign activities. A classic campaign closing event will not be held, it was emphasized.
On Friday noon, the NEOS rely on a pink “closure” in the heart of the state capital, Maria-Theresien-Strasse. Top candidate Dominik Oberhofer can count on federal political support, since federal party leader Beate Meinl-Reisinger WILL be present. As did Secretary General Douglas Hoyos and MEP Claudia Gamon. Both Meinl-Reisinger and Oberhofer will give speeches. The event is by no means the end of the election campaign, the APA emphasized. Because afterwards the pink campaigners swarmed out again for two days – “with e-cars and the train” – in all Tyrolean districts.
According to its Facebook presence, MFG, which is not represented in the state parliament but is running nationwide, will meet next Thursday evening in front of the Landestheater am Rennweg to conclude its election campaign. In addition to top candidate Elfriede Hörtnagl-Zofall, MFG boss and presidential candidate Michael Brunner and federal manager Gerhard Pöttler are also expected to attend.
