Salzburg sports director Christoph Freund before moving to Chelsea
Christoph Freund is about to move to Chelsea. The 45-year-old has made a name for himself as sporting director of RB Salzburg and is considered the preferred candidate by new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly.
With the sacking of Thomas Tuchel, new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has put the stones in his roles. Graham Porter was hired after the successful German coach was fired. Now the Blues have also found the sports director they wanted.
As Fabrizio Romano reports, Christoph Freund is about to reach an agreement with Chelsea. RB Salzburg is said to have already been informed about this. “I’ve always exchanged ideas with Chelsea. The new owners are interested in how we do it with young players, how we integrate them into the first team,” Freund said on Wednesday heaven reveal.
In Salzburg, Freund first worked as a team manager, was then promoted to sports coordinator and finally to sports director. The 45-year-old continued the concept installed by Ralf Rangnick. Confirmation of his good work are not only the national and international (partial) successes, but above all the many young top players who now play for many top clubs.
