Official: Diadié Samassékou moves from Hoffenheim to Olympiacos Piraeus – “Was extremely unhappy”
Diadié Samassékou is leaving TSG Hoffenheim for Olympiacos Piraeus. The Kraichgauer announce on Friday that the Malian international will initially be loaned to SC Freiburg’s Europa League group opponents until the end of the season. Before that, however, Samassékou’s TSG contract was prematurely extended by a year until 2025.

According to consistent media reports, the Bundesliga side have also agreed with the Greek champions on a subsequent purchase option for around 13 million euros, with which TSG would acquire the sum granted in 2019 for Samassékou’s commitment to RB Salzburg in the event of a permanent move.
“Diadie was extremely unhappy with his current sporting situation and approached us with an urgent desire for a change“, sporting director Alexander Rosen explained the sudden farewell. “With the possibility that Diadie will get more playing time again at a top club like Olympiacos Piraeus, we have found a very good solution in the interest of everyone, which gives us the option after the end of this season the situation to reevaluate.”

The midfielder, who has been one of the regulars at Hoffenheim for the past few years, was no longer the first choice under new coach André Breitenbreiter. In the current season he only made three short appearances and was only on the pitch for a total of 80 minutes.
