Lauterbach sport shooters in Innsbruck

Once again, a delegation of Lauterbach sport shooters found their way to Innsbruck, Austria, to play in the large-caliber shooting of the Standschützenkompagnie Pradl. The SSV Lauterbach athletes have been taking part in this traditional event (30th time) since 2015. “Unfortunately, the competitions have been canceled in the last two years due to corona,” Helmut Ortwein looks back with a little nostalgia. All the more gratifying that it worked out again this year, so that Thomas Löffler, Helmut Ortwein, Viktor Scherer, Bernd Schul, Gerhard Möller and Ernst Graulich headed south again to the neighboring country.
In this competition, orderly rifles, which were already used in the wars before 1945, will be shot at a distance of 100 meters with open sights, i.e. over the rear sight and without any other accessories. In a field of 92 participants, the Lauterbachers did quite well. A trio placed in the top 12, although it wasn’t quite enough for the top.
“A commitment has already been made for 2023 and a counter-invitation for our western shooting has been issued,” says Ortwein, who, like his club mates, spoke of a “very nice experience”.
