Hallein and his club: The young UFC is coming to Maxglan
Ironically, at the end of their birthday week, the venerable Austria meets the youngest club in the state. In Hallein, which is keen on fusion, an agreement was reached on the UFC for the new decade, which our eternally young love met on the first Saturday.
The first compulsory task in Grödig was successfully completed. On Saturday, the game starts at 4 p.m. in the Max Aicher Stadium against a club that is a little further south than SV Grödig.
After we went on a journey of discovery again in the spring, the local regional league basic round also has new territory in store for us. It won’t really be until April 1st next year, when this series will end with our guest appearance in Hallein-Gamp, but we’ll get to know the youngest football club in the state on the pitch this weekend.
Muddled again – founded in 2020
The 99th season in Salzburg’s top division was the first in the history of UFC Hallein. Only three victories jumped out for the freshly merged Hallein in their premiere season before it had to be canceled in October. Corona seems halfway contained, but the football fever in Hallein has remained.
After the compulsory break of months, we really found each other and had our first really outstanding season, which fortunately could be played to the end. The UFC finished the 2021/22 Salzburg league in second place and was promoted to the regional league this summer together with champion Golling.
Until then, the recent past. But in Hallein, one of the most well-established and traditional centers of soccer in our federal state, it’s time to take a look back to sort everything out.
Football in Hallein – a purple look back
It was only in 2004 that they started to join forces and merged with Olympia Hallein and 1. Hallein SK. A concentrated load of football tradition for FC Hallein 04. The red of the HSK and the blue of the Olympics, together with the white brought in by both, became the colors of the new club.
Some of you may still remember the thrilling Landescup thriller in May 2008, when goalgetter Jasmin Jahic’s free kick deflected off the wall happily decided the game late and in favor of the big favorite Hallein. A good 14 years later, perhaps the man who sat on the guests’ bench at the time also remembered it: Eidke Wintersteller, who incidentally coached both Hallein clubs, took his seat again this time – an obvious personality that held the scepter over the new, united forces of the Tennengau district capital swings.
We had to accept bitter, sometimes quite inglorious defeats at the “Alten Sandriese”. As guests on the small square in Union Hallein, the violets always had a hard time with the turf and opponents. What remains of the green-whites is their number in the club register, under which all the forces in football in the salt mine town have really mingled to form UFC Hallein.

Hallein’s combined forces
FC Hallein 04, which hasn’t gotten old, brought in red from its colours, while the Union brought in green. Together with the bright achromatic, which has always been understood in Hallein, the “football baby” of Salzburg’s third largest city now shines in red, green and white. The resulting color combination also adorns the logo of the UFC, which, before the classic football, comes with the salt carrier, as you know it from Hallein’s city coat of arms.
Everything that was available was simply brought together and, with the participation of everyone, a clearer attempt was made to really fully bundle the strengths of Fußball-Hallein. The Tennengauers have the powers of the special Violet Christopher Mayr in their bundle – who we have to watch out for, as an ex-Austrian he hurt us nine years ago in the SV Mattersburg jersey: The equalizer he forced repeated unnecessarily in Overtime and penalties and ultimately to the unfortunate end of the ÖFB Cup.
After the wedding, the pangs of conscience
The young club presents its officials on the web with original subordinate clauses. In order to get to know the league newcomer a little better, we immediately asked the UFC, who was “a warm-hearted odds blonde who only has her mobile phone in her hand more often than she eats something” and accordingly quickly received an answer to our question, What makes football Hallein different now: “We are a UFC family in which everything only works together and we support each other. Everyone shapes the club in their own way and lets their own handwriting flow into the big picture,” says Julia, who prefers to illustrate it to us in her dialect: “Personally, I see the fusion as little as a wedding, where two have all kinds of peculiarities , strengths and weaknesses are developed by both of us and we are able to learn and benefit from the respective past and start together in the future.”
Incidentally, the UFC does this with at least four female actors in the official ranks. Julia, who is responsible for social media – Hallein is on Facebook and Instagram – tells us a nice anecdote about her very personal conflict of interest, which occupies her before the upcoming game: “When it came to promotion for us, it was mine The first concern is how I will then put it on in a game against Austria – since I am personally quite close to Austria and it has always been easy to reconcile that up to now. It’s really going to be a bit of a challenge now that we’re playing in the same league,” said the opponent’s sympathetic official, who didn’t hesitate to say that she discovered her love for soccer through Austria.
Wherever the nice lady turns up on Saturday – it certainly won’t be the “guest cage” – we wish her and all of us an atmospheric first encounter between the real Salzburg and the newly constituted Hallein.
Incidentally, things have always worked out quite well in league home games against Hallein clubs. Die Österreich was able to consistently live up to their preferred role as favourites. This may also be the case this time against the bottom of the table. It starts at 4:00 p.m – if possible to three points, so that we are quickly back at the other, at the top end of the table.
