lectures, internships, theses, scientific articles and manuals prove the activity of the University of San Marino
The declarations issued by the Secretary of State for the Territory, Stefano Canti, on the occasion of the participation in the IX International Symposium on the characteristics of road pavement surfaces, organized by the Politecnico di Milano, arouse amazement and disappointment for a particular aspect dealt with. Already on other occasions, not exactly flattering considerations had been formulated towards the University of the Republic of San Marino, but in the context of a criticism of all the work carried out together with the State Autonomy Company for Public Works (AASLP ). In the desire not to feed controversy nor to enter into political events to which the University has always remained extraneous, the University has rigorously refrained from any comment or public response. This is not, however, because he did not have the arguments: in fact, substantial letters containing numerous considerations, counter-arguments and accompanied by the relative documentation were specified confidentially to the Secretariat of State for the Territory. There was, however, no response. Now, however, the reason for a statement (among others) aimed at arguing that the collaboration with the University of San Marino would not have “transferred any competence within the AASLP” is not really understood. If it is more necessary than to increase the need and praise the new path of collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano, also prefiguring new important results, it remains difficult to understand why we feel the need to insert a disparaging consideration by a secretary of state towards the University of your country. Especially since it is a totally unfounded consideration: the lessons that were held right in the AASLP headquarters with the participation of the technicians, the internships carried out in that same venue with total collaboration, the fact that the technicians were thesis co-supervisors as well as co-authors of scientific articles and manuals. Seminars were co-organized, there were those who attended online courses for the related exam. Also this year, eati procedures and codes were used in public tender as established together with the University of San Marino. All this is widely documented and available for anyone to view. You can decide at any time and for any reason to interrupt a collaboration, for charity, but this does not legitimize critical considerations damaging the image of others. Our University, in the meantime, is recording flattering acknowledgments of the research activity while it continues and expands the initiatives with participation in international conferences and collaborations with external subjects such as the Municipalities of Riccione, Ravenna and Fano, of which detailed news will soon come.
