“Running well for Angola is to run well for Portugal”
O President of the Republic, Marcel, considered this Wednesday that the future in Angola “continues” to be built in the coming days, most importantly, in a very difficult environment, namely due to the pandemic and war, but also more plural.
Speaking to journalists in Angola, Marcelo began by being asked about his petitions from the Angolan president, following the August 24 attempts, and the results were probably contested by the opposition.
“I consider it very important that, after a very disputed election, there is, on the one hand, the entry into office of the re-elected president (…) and, on the other hand, it is important that all political parties that have been elected to parliament , this had to give voice is very important for the political system, which allows the Portuguese head of state to be very important, which gives great strength to the political system.
Recalling that the parliament has an electoral period, mainly for the president, and the electoral power manifested in a very intense period by the president, Marcelo, who “does not cease to have divergences, but a vision of the future”.
“And the future begins to be built or continues to be built tomorrow and the day after tomorrow”, he said, referring to the inauguration of the president and after the elected.
Asked about the issue of legitimacy” by João Lourenço, which is especially due to the issue, he underlined opposition, which “most importantly” is “maturity” to the war, the pandemic and the crisis, and recalled that a similar situation occurred in Portugal, in 2015, after the legislation disputed between António Costa and Pedro Passos Coelho.
“The important thing is that there is maturity”, he defended, referring to that no longer reflects the fact that the institutions work.
“Here the important thing is that the president assumes his functions, and that the power works, and the parliament all the elected members to assume their functions and that the parliament plays a role that is very important in the Constitution of this great country and goes well for Angola”, he noted.
“Running well for Angola is to run well for Portugal”, he concluded.
It is recalled that João Lourenço and his general party were inspired by the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola1975. The results are disputed by the opposition.
