Mobility prices for free public transport and pick-up boxes

Together with the state and the ÖBB, the Verkehrsclub Österreich (VCÖ) awarded this year’s mobility prize: the winners are the Salzburg start-up “MyFlex Box Austria”, the “Heimat Österreich” for a residential building renovation with a mobility concept and the Salzburg Transport Association for the petrol Fridays.
Free use of public transport on every Friday between April and August costs around one million euros. But the investment was worth it, said Transport Councilor Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP). The campaign should no longer be the same in scope, but it will be offered selectively – such as at the Rupertikirtag in September. “We’re thinking about it selectively and not just limited to Fridays – and we’re hoping for even more impact.”
Fewer cars, more two-wheelers
The housing developer “Heimat Österreich” is also opting for fewer cars for more bicycles and the like. During the renovation of a residential complex in Salzburg-Aigen, the number of apartments fell – but at the same time the number of car parking spaces, explained Daniela Schnöll from “Heimat Österreich”. “We have e-bikes, cargo bikes, an e-car that you can use and a large bicycle garage.”
Collection boxes for delivery services points
The third VCÖ mobility award winner is also represented directly at this facility. The Salzburg start-up “MyFlex Box Austria”. The company offers pick-up boxes in which a wide variety of delivery services can deposit parcels – this ensures fewer journeys.
