Live tracking: thunderstorms are sweeping Provence, be careful in the Var!
This Wednesday
At 8:15 a.m., a line of thunderstorms sweeps east of the Bouches-du-Rhône as well as the Var.
These storms are accompanied by significant electrical activity as well as very heavy showers and occasional hailstorms. The duration of this stormy episode is short (between 15 and 30 minutes) but it can cause significant urban runoff in the Toulon sector.
At 7:45 a.m., after having swept through the lower Rhône valley, the storms quickly spread to Provence and in particular the Bouches-du-Rhône and the Var coast. Caution between Marseille and Toulon, because these storms can mount punctually virulent between 8 and 9 am this morning.
Between Montpellier and Nîmes, the situation is deteriorating again with the formation of a line of thunderstorms which seems to be not very mobile and which causes very heavy localized rains.
At 07:15, the strongest thunderstorms break out in the lower and middle Rhone Valley. Be careful if you drive between Valence and Orange. The Bouches-du-Rhône are also threatened by storms coming up from the Mediterranean. In the Hérault, the situation is deteriorating again in Montpellier where a line of thunderstorms is forming in the east of the department.
At 06:30, in a very humid air mass, violent storms came up from the Mediterranean and affected Languedoc and the lower Rhone Valley. Other, more isolated storms broke out in Limousin.

On the Cévennes Héraultaises, the storms are getting stronger. Under these storms, the showers are sometimes heavy.
