Barcelona begins the defense of the title by beating Pick Szeged – Handball
The Barca started the 2022-2023 Champions League like a hurricane and swept his visit to the Hungarian Pick Szeged by Juan Carlos Pastor (28-35)with an extraordinary second half (13-21) with a devastating attack and an aggressive defense.
Dika Mem and Ludovic Fábregas, both with 7 goalsand Melvin Richardson, who showed his role as a great central defender, with 6, shone with his own light, just like the debutant Emil Nielsen in goalwho relieved an ill-advised Gonzalo this Wednesday.
Barça came out fluently (4-5, m.6), but the Szeged’s Croatian goal saves Mirko AlilovicThey made their team react and, under the masterful direction of Slovenian Dean Bombac and the mobility of captain Bence Banhidi and pivot Richard Bodó, Barça conceded a partial 6-0 (10-5, m.14).
A timeout for Carlos Ortega, the entry of Emil Nielsen, who made his debut as a Barça player in the Champions League, in the 17th minute and the Awakening of Dika Mem made the Catalan team react (11-9, m.20). Juan Carlos Pastor stopped the game, but he could not prevent his team from losing almost all of its income at half-time (15-14).

Finally, Luka Cindric, did not recover his physical problems, did not enter the call and the young Domen Makuc, his replacement, was not successful and Ortega played it in the second half. He set up Melvin Richardson at center back with Dika Mem and Timothey N’Guessan at full-back and moved his defense forward to cut through the Hungarian passing lanes. Szeged held on from the start (18-16, m.33), but then the Barcelona storm broke out.
Ludovic Fábregas, Richardson himself, Mem and Aleix Gómez, supported by a great defense, that there were 9 losses to the Magyars, and a successful Nielsen (he finished with 8 saves) led to Barça destroying the local defense. Not even the change of Alilovic for Roland Mickler could stop the bleeding.
The maximum advantage of the Spanish team reached nine minutes for the final (23-32, m.51) with a partial (5-16) and everything was seen for sentencing.
