Athens sends wanted man to Germany for crypto-currency scams
“Green light” to the extradition of a 37-year-old foreigner to Germany, where he is being recorded for international cryptocurrency fraud, lit the Council of Appeals of Thessaloniki. This is an Israeli citizen, who was arrested on August 24 at the international airport “Macedonia”, as he was preparing to board a flight to Larnaca, Cyprus.
As the police found, he had a pending arrest warrant from German prosecutors, according to which he is described as a leading member of a criminal network, which defrauded Germans and other citizens in various European countries, with the amount of the fraud estimated at more than. of 1.4 million euros.
Through phone calls and e-mail, members of the network urged unsuspecting victims to invest large amounts of money in various financial instruments, promising big profits, as mentioned in an announcement by EL.AS. According to the same announcement, the funds transferred were distributed in a complex money laundering network that operated across Europe.
The wanted man denied any involvement in the case, stressing that he is not the person the Germans are looking for. “What is the damage to my family, we will not overcome it soon”, said – among other things – the 37-year-old, father of three minor children, who has the right to appeal in order to be judged by the Supreme Court.
