14 Croatian ultras arrested ahead of Champions League game
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, 14 Croatian ultras, Dinamo Zagreb supporters, were arrested by Italian police ahead of the Champions League match against AC Milan. Knives and smoke bombs were seized in particular.
Italian police made 14 arrests on Wednesday during the Champions League matchday two match between AC Milan and Dinamo Zagreb. According to Gazzetta dello Sportknives, smoke bombs and a telescopic baton were seized from the ranks of the Croatian Ultras.
Large deployment of law enforcement
The first checks took place this Wednesday morning and they were to continue until kick-off, at 6.45 p.m. A large deployment of law enforcement has been established by the local authorities, to guard against potential incidents in the city.
This Tuesday, incidents have already broken out in the Champions League during the meeting between OM and Eintracht Frankfurt. Several smoke bombs were thrown by supporters of both sides inside the Velodrome. Nazi salutes had also been reported in the German camp.
On the first day of last week, AC Milan conceded a draw (1-1) at RB Leipzig, where Dinamo Zagreb beat Chelsea (1-0) at home, causing the restart day after Thomas Tuchel. Reigning champion of Serie A, the Lombard club occupies third place in the Italian championship after six days, undefeated with four wins and two draws. Also undefeated, Dinamo Zagreb won the Croatian championship after nine rounds.
