Paralympic fencing, Giordan too at the Pisa World Cup
Pisa – It will be Pisa, with the now historic stage of Paralympic World Cup “The Leaning Tower”to open the new international season of fencing.
The appointment, scheduled from 22 to 25 September, is actually the recovery of the edition that was postponed last March due to the anti-Covid restrictions on the entry of foreigners into Italy. But the organizing committee of the event has relaunched and in this atypical September location, now near the start of Qualifications for i Paris Paralympic Games 2024a huge participation of athletes from all over the world is expected in Tuscany.
The Pisa 2022 calendar will unfold in four days of competitions, the first three dedicated to individual races and the last with team trials. Precisely for the team events on Sunday 25th, the Italian Fencing Federation directed the summons to the Italian athletes who will obviously already be involved in the individual competitions in the previous days.
The chosen ones to make up the teams are Matteo Betti, Michele Massa, Marco Cima and Emanuele Lambertini in men’s foil; in the female sword Veronica Martini, Alessia Biagini, Sofia Brunati and Rossana Pasquino who will also take part in the Open saber test (mixed formations) together with Andreea Mogos, Gianmarco Paolucci and Edoardo Giordan.
To rule the Azzurri will be the Coordinator of the Paralympic sector Dino Meglio and the CT Marco Ciari for the saber, Francesco Martinelli for the sword and Simone Vanni for the foil.
In the Italian delegation in Pisa, with the Federal Councilor Alberto Ancarani, there will also be the doctor Gianvito Rapisarda and the physiotherapists Tiziano Preziosi Standoli and Giulia Talluri.
