Crazy September: the great concerts we will see in Portugal until the end of the month
With the end of the summer festivals, concerts in closed rooms are back. enjoy a summary of shows scheduled until the end of this month.
ANASTACIA: Campo Pequeno, Lisbon, September 15
Postponed due to the pandemic, the tour that celebrates 20 years of Anastacia’s career finally arrives in Portugal, for a concert at Campo Pequeno, in Lisbon. Hits like ‘I’m Outta Love’ or ‘Left Outside Alone’ will be present at the North American singer’s show, on her first tour since 2018. The concert starts at 8:30 pm and tickets cost between 25 euros and 50 euros.
PATRICE: Capitol, Lisbon, September 22
The German musician, with roots in Sierra Leone, returns to Portugal to present his latest album, “Life’s Blood”, from 2016, and many songs from a career that began 22 years ago, with the album “Ancient Spirit”. An intimate concert, is what Patrice Bart-Williams promises, an artist as influenced by Bob Marley as by Bob Dylan. It starts at 10pm and tickets cost 29 euros.
IMMINENT FESTIVAL: Matinha, Lisbon, from September 22nd to 25th
In addition to the visual arts, Festival Iminente features a strong musical program. On the first day of September 22nd, well, S. Reis, Portuguese, Profjam and Landim as Real Guns Tomé and Príncipe Dricka (Brazil) or PhaMC Monch (United States Jamaica). On the 23rd, there are concerts by Carla Prata (Angola/Portugal), Né Jah (Portugal/Cape Verde), Éllàh (Cape Verde), Yazuka (Portugal) or Goldie (United Kingdom). Sam the Kid with orchestra and Orelha Negra, Puta da Silva (Brazil) and Tristany (Portugal) are the highlights of the 24th. Karol Conká (Brazil), Batida with Bonga (Portugal/Angola) and Bandua and Sara Correia (Portugal). There are daily tickets at 25 euros and passes at 75 euros.
SANTA CASA ALFAMA: Lisbon, from the 23rd to the 24th of September
A tribute show to the singer Max, by António Zambujo and guests, is the highlight of the first day of Santa Casa Alfama, a festival dedicated to fado. On the same day, Jorge Fernando, Joana Amendoeira or Rogério Ferraz. On the second day, September 24, Dulce Pontes invites Ricardo Ribeiro and Aldina Duarte presents the show “As Divas”. Ana Sofia Varela and Agir are other artists confirmed on this day. Daily tickets cost 25 euros and passes 35 euros; on festival days, they go up to 30 euros and 40 euros.
ARCADE FIRE: Campo Pequeno, Lisbon, 22nd and 23rd of September
The Canadian band, one of the most popular in the indie universe, presents the latest album “We”, released this year. The club’s tour has been haunted by sexual impropriety measures against Win Butler, the band’s lead singer. In this regard, Leslie Feist, who was supposed to do the first part of the shows, abandoned the tour. The concert starts at 8pm and there are 1 tickets between 61 euros and 43.50 euros.
MICHAEL KIWANUKA: Pavilhão Rosa Mota, Porto, September 23, and in Campo Pequeno, Lisbon, September 24
The English musician finally returns to Portugal, after the delays caused by the pandemic. In the suitcase, the author of ‘Cold Little Heart’ brings the latest “Kiwanuka”, released in 2019 and received with pleasure by the public and critics. In Porto, there are tickets from 25 euros and in Lisbon from 27 euros. The concerts start at 21:30.
MIMO FESTIVAL: Historic Center of Porto, from the 23rd to the 25th of September
The festival was born in Brazil and, in Portugal, the house in Amarante is now moving to the historic center of Porto. Chico César, Asa and Gileno Santana, on September 23; Branko, Orquestra Voadora and Ray Lema, 24, and Emicida, Don Letts and Maria João and Mário Laginha, 25 are some of the highlights. Entry is free.
JORGE PALMA: Baldaya Palace Gardens, Benfica, Lisbon, September 25
The Portuguese musician performs in Benfica for the start of the “Antologia” series, in which the album will include projects in several concerts. In the gardens of Palácio Baldaya, the album “Só” (1991) will be its starting point. The trip arrives, in, with data at Tivoli, also in Lisbon.
ANGEL OLSEN: Capitol, September 26 and 27
Angel Olsen returns to Capitólio, in Lisbon, after performing there on her birthday, in 2020. This time, the American singer-songwriter “Big Time”, the acclaimed album released this year, marked by country-soul sounds . As in 2020, she will give two concerts in this room, on consecutive days. Both started at 21:30, with tickets at 28 euros.
EMICIDA: Teatro Tivoli, Lisbon, September 27 – two concerts on the same day
The Brazilian rapper brings to Lisbon the album “Amarelo”, which gave rise to a Netflix movie and with which he intends to fight “the wave of hatred and polarization that flood not only Brazil, but the world”. Emicida will give two concerts in the same room, on the same day: one at 7pm and another at 10pm. Tickets cost between 18 euros and 30 euros.
SIGUR RÓS: Campo Pequeno, Lisbon, September 28
The Icelandic band returns to Portugal for the first time since 2016, the year they performed at Primavera Sound, in Porto. With you, Jónsi and I accompany you to bring the album “Kveikur”, already from 2013. This will be the first date of the first tour of Sigur Rós in five years. The concert starts at 9pm and there are 4 tickets for 29 euros.
FESTIVAL FOR SITTING PEOPLE: Theatro Circo, Braga, September 30th and October 1st
This year, the Festival para Gente Setada presents, on the first day, concerts by Helado Negro, Caio and Ghostly Kisses and, on the second, by Valter Lobo, Villagers and Sean Riley with Legendary Tigerman. The music starts at 10 pm on both days and tickets cost 20 euros (one day) and 35 euros (two days).
