On September 1, the Salzburg public prosecutor filed charges of breach of trust against the three club officials. They are said to have embezzled a total of 464,000 euros from the Austrian animal rescue service.
In the fall of 2020, a former employee of the Salzburg-based association got the case rolling: you told the president that he had paid for private vacations, a motorboat or purchases from the association’s treasury.
“Club money misused for private living”
The public prosecutor’s office takes a similar view: Between March 2016 and September 2020, the main suspect is said to have knowingly misused his power of disposal over the association’s funds for his private life. He is said to have withdrawn money in cash as well as used it for transfers, according to the indictment.
The second accused was the association’s auditor. He is said to have helped the main suspect to conceal around 370,000 euros in payments so that he is said to have manipulated the club’s accounting. However, since he is not supposed to have any of the money himself, the public prosecutor sees him as a contributor. The third accused is said to have paid a private bill for 860 euros from the club account.
The main suspect has so far rejected the allegations
In the past, the main suspect had rejected the allegations and spoke of an act of revenge by former employees. A trial date has not yet been set because the indictment is not yet final.
