Aldo Calvani is the new director of the Bank of San Marino
The Board of Directors of Banca di San Marino has appointed the new General Manager, Aldo Calvani.
Graduated in Political Science at the University of Siena and with a solid background gained through Courses and Masters in Finance, as well as internships at leading European Banks, Calvani boasts a high-profile professional experience in the banking and financial fields.
After the first years in a leading Italian bank, he held positions of responsibility in the Finance and Commercial area in the Banca Popolare dell’Etruria and Lazio group until he became Financial Director and subsequent Commercial Director. From 2005 to 2009 he held the position of Director of Risk Management and Head of Anti-Money Laundering for the same group, before being assigned to the General Management of a Leasing Company. In the same years he also held the position of Investor Relator of the group.
In 2011 he began the experience of General Management of Banks, first at Banca Lecchese (now Banca Progetto) until 2015, then at Banca Federico Del Vecchio in Florence, a Private and Wealth Management bank.
Since 2017, following mergers, he has held roles of Territorial Responsibility in Tuscany first for Ubi Banca and then for the Banca Intesa Sanpaolo group, in which since 2021 he has held the role of Director of the Retail Area.
Over the years – in addition to being present in various technical committees of the Italian Banking Association – he has had numerous administrative positions as President of a Fund Company in Luxembourg, Director of a Life Insurance Company, Director of a leading Italian asset management company and of a real estate fund management company. Lastly, he was a director of the Unione Fiduciaria until 2019.

On Monday 12 September, the General Manager took office and met the staff of the Bank of San Marino together with the top management of the Institute and the Ente Cassa di Faetano.
