Villeneuve lez Avignon: the “Edens” of Cyril Destrade exhibited at the Saint-André abbey until October 30
Bright, colorful, natural: the exhibition Edens, by Cyril Destrade, presented at the Saint-André abbey is all of this at once. Until October 30, the artist presents a series of watercolors representing imaginary places or sketched on the motif.
Resolutely optimistic, the artist Cyril Destrade presents his latest creations at the Abbey of Saint-André, alternating ink, acrylic or watercolor mainly on paper. The line is lively, the color palette transparent and intense at the same time. The warmth of the colours, the spontaneity of the almost liquid choreographic expression stages a vegetal and luminous world which constantly oscillates between abstraction and narration.
Edens transports the public into the flourishing imagination of this illustrator who has seduced the big houses with which he regularly collaborates. This exhibition notably compares table service objects made for the Gien pottery factory with certain preparatory sketches that served as a model for their production or watercolors commissioned by Hermès. This hanging opens up to us gardens designed like belvederes whose endless horizons we guess, shimmering frescoes where it is good to immerse yourself before the arrival of autumn.
