Milan fall again, Juventus added by Inter
Difficult start to the season for AC Milan, which went on to a second defeat, after their opening defeat against Fiorentina. On Saturday, the Rossonere lost on the lawn of Roma (2-0) and are already far from the first places, and from the Louve club, provisional leader…
The Roman success was forged in the first period, with the two goals of the day scored by Moeka Minami (18e) and Valentina Giacinti (43e). The two players have in particular in common to have arrived this summer in Rome. The opener came from a corner, when it was Milan who had obtained the first chance of the match, on a volley, off target, from Linda Tucceri Cimini (8e).
Milan are losing ground again
The Milanese nets will however tremble, following a corner pushed back at first. The ball stays near the Lombard area, and Annamaria Serturini can put it back in front of the goal. Moeka Minami inherits the ball in an ideal position against the Milan goal, and the Japanese defender can close close (18e).
The first period was dominated by the Roma players, and Laura Giuliani had to make a few saves to repel the attempts of Annamaria Serturini (31e and 40e) or Elisa Bartoli on a corner (43e). The Milan goalkeeper must however bow to her former teammate and captain, Valentina Giacinti.
The ball is recovered by Annamaria Serturini, the rapid transition to find Valentina Giacinti, introduced towards the opposing goal, and at the conclusion of the left from the entrance to the surface (43e). In the second half, Milan remains under pressure, and it takes new interventions from Laura Giuliani (48e and 61e) to avoid a wider Roma victory.
A top three led by Roma
At the top of the standings, AS Roma leads a trio that includes Fiorentina and Sampdoria, also credited with two victories. Fiorentina won (2-1) on Sunday against promoted FC Como, with the three goals of the game scored in the first period.
The two Florentine achievements come from free kicks, Jazmyn Jackmon header (8e), and Vero Boquete on a clever serve from Sarah Huchet (15e). Subsequently, the Estonian striker Vlada Kubassova will reduce the gap (35e), but the three points will remain in Florence.
A little earlier, Sampdoria had defeated Pomigliano (2-1) after a disputed game, and a time played by Pomigliano after the opener of his Brazilian rookie Taty (10e). Sampdoria then reversed the trend thanks to the excellent free kick from Giorgia Spinelli (25e) and the second but signed Yoreli Rincon on penalty (69e).
Inter stand up to Juve
The most spectacular meeting of the weekend ended without a winner on Sunday at Vinovo. On his lawn, Juventus was held in check by Inter Milan (3-3), after leading by two goals at the break. This is the first time that Juve have lost a point to Inter in the league, the Milanese club having never beaten the Bianconere in an official match.
Juve had taken the lead in the first quarter of an hour through Sofia Cantore. Back in Turin this season, Cantore is at the conclusion of a full axis collective movement, well served in the meantime by Arianna Caruso, before concluding in the interist area (13e).
The second but also remarkable, on an individual action of Lineth Beerensteyn. The Dutch striker ended her raid with a shot from the right in the box, slipping into the left corner of Francesca Durante (35e). The ride is just as spectacular for Tabitha Chawinga on recovery. The Malawian striker from Inter crosses the Turin camp before deceiving Pauline Peyraud-Magnin (46e).
Goals and suspense
Tabitha Chawinga quickly adds a second but on the hour mark, with a powerful strike sent under the Turin bar (61e). The end of the match holds new surprises, with Juve reduced to ten, following the expulsion of Linda Sembrant (83e), but who also managed to regain the advantage.
Cristiana Girelli is finishing on a serve from Valentina Cernoia (90e). Juve believe they hold their victory, but Ghoutia Karchouni prepares a new thunderclap. The midfield trigger the volley at the entrance to the Turin areaa ball that lodges flush with the right post, Pauline Peyraud-Magnin unanswered in front of her line (90 + 3).
Juve like Inter remains at the top of the table, but therefore behind the first leading trio. With the new format of Serie A, this “top 5” is now important, since it includes the teams that can compete for the title in the second half of the season.
Parma opens its counter
This second day also allowed Parma to score their first points in Serie A, winning Monday evening against Sassuolo (2-1). Led at the start of the match, the Parmesanes reversed the trend thanks to goals scored by two players who played for Sassuolo last season.
Michela Cambiaghi (41)e) replied to Giada Pondini (20e) in the first period, and it was French midfielder Alice Benoit who scored the winning goal late in the game from a free kick.
