Goule gets his second win of the season, Jackson falls back to fifth place in Switzerland

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica’s flag-bearer for the women’s 800 meters, Natoya Goule, celebrated her second win of the season at the Galà dei Castelli Bellinzona meeting in Switzerland on Monday.
Goule crossed the finish line in a winning time of 1:59.05 seconds. She finished ahead of Anita Horvat of Slovenia, who finished second in 2:00.76, while Anna Wielgosz of Poland was third in 2:01.24.
Meanwhile, Shericka Jackson, who just won her first Diamond League title in the 200m at the Zurich Diamond League meeting, only managed fifth place in the 100m.
Jackson clocked a time of 11.19 seconds in a race won by Ivory Coast’s Marie-José Ta Lou in 10.86 seconds. Britain’s Daryll Neita was second in 11.00 seconds and Bassant Hemida of Egypt completed the top three in 11.07 seconds.
In the men’s race, Ackeem Blake clocked a time of 10.09 seconds, finishing fourth. The event was won by Brandon Carnes of the United States in 10.04 seconds. Canadian Andre DeGrasse had to settle for eighth place in 10.37 seconds.
Jamaica’s only competitor in the men’s 110m hurdles, Damion Thomas, secured second place in 13.38 seconds behind Jamal Britt of the United States (13.18). Rafael Pereira of Brazil completed the top 3 in 13.41 seconds.
Meanwhile, Andrenette Knight finished third in the women’s 400m with a time of 52.23 seconds. The one-lap race was won by the Czech Lada Vondrová in 51.60 seconds.
