Red Bull Salzburg mastered the task in the Bundesliga between the two top international games in the Champions League with ease. Four days after the 1-1 draw at home against AC Milan and four days before the duel with the Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge, the Bulls celebrated an unchallenged 3-0 away win at SV Ried. Salzburg remains at the top of the table in the league and travels to London with the next sense of achievement.
CL Group Stage – Matchday 2
The course of the game played the bulls in the cards. After just 15 minutes, the series champion was 2-0 up, acted largely confidently and was able to shift down a gear at half-time. “We were dominant for 90 minutes and were certainly able to save grains,” emphasized coach Matthias Jaissle after the final whistle on TV channel Sky. The only downer was Junior Adamu’s red card after an assault.
Salzburg nice regulars
The Salzburg coach made a total of four changes in the starting eleven. Regulars such as Nicolas Seiwald, Noah Okafor and Fernando were only used during the game on Wednesday. Other key players such as Nicolas Capaldo, Maurits Kjaergaard and Benjamin Sesko were substituted after the break. So even during the game, at least for coach Jaissle, the focus was a little on the second highlight in the Champions League in a short time.
After the 1-1 draw against Italian champions AC Milan last Tuesday and the last strong performances in the league, Salzburg travel to London with confidence. A top European team is waiting there in Chelsea FC (Wednesday 9:00 p.m./live Sky). “It’s a Herculean task. They’re absolutely world class in every position,” Jaissle looked ahead to the duel on the island. “We need luck and Chelsea don’t need the best day, then we can go home with a point.”
His opposite number, Graham Potter, will take his place on the Blues dugout for the first time. According to Jaissle, the task will in no way be made easier by the change of manager at Chelsea. In addition, the cancellation of the entire Premier League round due to the death of the Queen makes it difficult to analyze the upcoming opponent. “But Chelsea won’t be a lucky bag,” said the Salzburg coach.
