Aleksandar Matic in a video statement on 9/11/2022: “I thought about my decision last night and made it quickly – Union Innsbruck needs a new strong man – I didn’t achieve my goals. After a fantastic spring of 2022 with 32 points won, a broad squad and great training support. Preparation for the 2022/23 fall season started on July 7th with a small squad – training visits were minimal due to holidays. What can I say about the championship record up to the beginning of September 2022. Fourteenth place, six points from seven games, goal difference 13:25.
I’m proud that I was allowed to be a coach at Union Innsbruck. I’m also proud of my work, I gave everything I could. I live football and yesterday after the 8-2 loss I was exhausted and completely devastated. We started something with new players – but it didn’t work.
I would like to thank everyone in the club, that’s football. In spring Matic was “on fire”, now Matic is completely down. A coach has to see that objectively and then he has to clear the space. You have to give the club the chance to get started again, because things are going much better. Thanks again, sorry too if I’m a bit loud at times but my temperament is like that. I just love the football game and emotions are part of it!” (Source: ligaprotal.at)
