Wacker women start late in the Bundesliga
After a few anxious weeks remains Wacker Innsbruck got the women’s section after all. Looking at the financial situation of the Tyrolean club, this was not considered secure for a long time. In June there was speculation as to whether the women’s team would switch to WSG Tirol – at the end of July it became known that Wacker Innsbruck was planning a “low-budget” approach.
The SPORTLAND Lower Austria Women’s Cup recently showed what this looks like. Wacker lost to the Innsbruck sports club in the first round. Curious: The Bundesliga team had to play the game with only 10 players due to a lack of staff. The upcoming league game against Vienna was then postponed. Now – one game day later than the rest of the league – Wacker Innsbruck is also starting in the Planet Pure Women’s Bundesliga, the club explains the starting position in a statement:
“With a two-week delay, the newly formed Wacker women start the season in the Planet Pure Women’s Bundesliga. Coach Milivoj Vujanovic didn’t have much time to get to know his new team and to adapt to the Bundesliga Relegation meets SPG Union Kleinmünchen/FC BW Linz on Saturday at Tivoli W1.”
