Marseille fears incidents during the match
After the terrible incidents that occurred before the match during Nice-Cologne, OM are worried about the reception of Eintracht Frankfurt next Tuesday.
OM-Frankfurt: Marseille apprehends the arrival of German supporters
After an encouraged first Champions League match against Tottenham despite the defeat, the Phocaeans are concentrating on Lille, whom they will face this Saturday but also Frankfurt. Eintracht fell heavily from the start against Sporting CP (0-3) and will want to bounce back next Tuesday during its trip to the Vélodrome.
If the match is eagerly awaited by both sides, the future arrival of German supporters is very apprehensive by the city of Marseilles. The incidents that occurred during Nice-Cologne, a match for the first day of the Europa League Conference, are the number 1 reason for the concern surrounding the Marseille city. As a reminder, several pseudo-supporters of the Köln FC physically attacked stewards and OGCN supporters, which led to violent clashes. The kick-off of the meeting was even to be postponed to 7:40 p.m. instead of 6:45 p.m.
OM-Frankfurt: Reinforced security before the reception of Eintracht
Classified as high risk, the match OM-Frankfurt is likely to be very tense next Tuesday. Indeed, the visitor parking reserved for Germans will be full with no less than 3300 supporters supervised by 40 stewards according to Provence. There is therefore nothing to be reassured on the Marseille side, especially since the club has already had to deal with numerous incidents in its stadium for European Cup matches. The examples are as long as the arm (Leipzig, Salzburg and Atlético Madrid in 2018). The previous OM-Frankfurt, which took place in September 2018, had to be played at brothel following these incidents.
A rumor has even swelled in recent hours: fans of Eintracht would have to go to 15,000 to illegally enter the grounds of the Orange Vélodrome. If it’s just a rumor, security measures should be reinforced in Marseille. According to the newspaper Provence, several anticipatory meetings have already taken place with the Prefecture of Police, the two clubs (OM and Eintracht Frankfurt), the police and UEFA. For his part, Igor Tudor did not worry about potential excesses.
