The waste tire recycler Enviro appoints a new financial manager
Staffan Kullberg to support commercialization of the company’s pyrolysis technology
Stockholm – Scandinavian Enviro Systems AB (Enviro) has appointed a new chief financial officer and started a management reshuffle as it prepares to commercialize its end-of-life tire (ELT) recycling technology.
The Swedish pyrolysis company for waste tires has appointed Staffan Kullberg as new CFO, to report directly to CEO Thomas Sörensson.
Current CFO Urban Folcker will take responsibility for expanding the company’s business control capabilities, Enviro said in a Sept. 6 statement.
Kullberg, who has previously held a number of senior roles within the Volvo Group, will take up his new position with immediate effect and will help strengthen the finance department amid ongoing commercialization plans, the company said.
“Enviro is on the threshold of a very exciting but also demanding period,” says CEO Sörensson.
“We are actively preparing the establishment of our first full-scale recovery facility while addressing a sharp increase in customer interest in both carbon black and oil recovered,” he added.
As previously announced, Enviro plans to establish a recycling facility for ELT in Uddevalla, Sweden.
The facility will have the capacity to process up to 60 kilotons per year (ktpa) of waste tires, which, according to Enviro, covers over 60% of Sweden’s total annual volume of ELT.
However, Enviro has not finalized the decision to establish the new facility, saying it will depend on several factors, such as securing access to ELT and agreements covering supplies of recycled materials.
If completed, the company expects the new facility to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.
The project will be a complement to Enviro’s existing facility in Åsensbruk, Mellerud, which currently recycles 15ktpa of waste tires.
The move is part of Enviro’s “aggressive expansion plan” announced on May 20.
As part of the plan, the Swedish recycling company aims to establish up to four new facilities per year to ultimately build 30 facilities by 2030. Western Sweden and Central Europe have been identified as initial priority markets.
Enviro has developed a patented technology to recycle carbon black, oil and steel from end-of-life vehicle tires.
