The San Marino Undistricted Lions Club celebrates the Charter Night and remembers the solidarity initiatives carried out in the area
August 27 is a special event for the San Marino Undistricted Lions Club.
In fact, 62 years ago – it was August 27, 1960 – a special event was held during which the San Marino Undistricted Lions Club received its charter, officially becoming part of the great Lions family. On the evening in which this event was celebrated, President Silvano Di Mario introduced the guests Carla Amadori, President of the Rimini Host Lions Club, and Cesare Alimenti, Past President of the Bologna Irnerio Lions Club, clubs with which a solid partnership is active.
Recalling the principles of Lionism, Silvano Di Mario wanted to highlight how above all there is that of friendship that more than any other unites the members and allows them to successfully achieve the objectives pursued. The Lions Club is the largest non-governmental association in the world and through its action countless projects have been carried out in favor of the weakest and least fortunate. It also has some initiatives – service, as they are defined among the Lions territories – that the San Marino Undistricted Lions Club is implementing in the territory.
In particular, the activity in favor of the Ukrainian population who fled the war and hosted in San Marino continues. After having provided food vouchers for several months in the emergency and after having moved with a minibus hired by the Club, led by Lions volunteers, a new initiative has started in favor of the Ukrainian population. In fact, Italian language courses have begun for Ukrainian refugee mothers in San Marino. Hospitality is also made up of integration and this initiative allows refugees to be able to dare to make their contribution in the world of work and in the society of which they find themselves in these terrible moments to be part of.
