Compared to a year ago, users in the Republic of San Marino have seen increases in their bills by 50%. This is what is announced by the State Congress. Increases, therefore, important, but much more contained than the Italian neighbors. The “dear bills problem exists” in San Marino too, affirms the Secretary of State for Labor Teodoro Lonfernini. But the business system “right now is suffering relative”. “Not cheap enough in the last 12 years, so the prices were for our users.” In recent months, however, the rates have been gradually adjusted. “Today we have reached a 50% increase compared to September last year, before the energy crisis began to manifest itself. But we are far from the + 300% recorded elsewhere”, he explains. Gas bills on the Titan did not explode like on the other side of the border, because “we were able to sign a 6-year contract with a rate of 43.75 euros per megawatt / hour”, Lonfernini points out. However, the tariff “will have value if the physical gas guarantee comes”, or rather if supplies from Italy continue through the Snam network. For now, in the small enclave republic, therefore, the costs are “still sustainable – affirms Lonfernini – But we cannot guarantee that this will continue for a long time”. San Marino “observing with great desire international scenarios”. The contract, signed by Titano with Enel “a few days before the physical outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict”, continues the executive representative, “puts us in safety on the price, but uncertainty remains about the passage” of gas. Possible rationale? “We hope never to have to implement an emergency plan”, declares Secretary of State, but “the duty is very high”.
