Update from September 6, 5:16 p.m.: After the violent death of a mother and her son near the Rhine, the Cologne Regional Court has sentenced a 25-year-old to life imprisonment for two counts of murder. In addition, the court on Tuesday determined the particular severity of the guilt of the accused. This means that early release from prison after 15 years is legally possible, but in practice it is almost impossible.
According to the court, the woman had found the man before the crime with her conviction that he was the boy’s father. She had once attended the same school as the defendant and had become pregnant after graduating from high school in 2017. At that time there should have been a brief affair with the 25-year-old today. She did not give her father’s name to her family or friends. In 2019, however, the woman submitted an application for advance maintenance payments to the city of Cologne. In the course of the proceedings, at some point it was clear to her that the accused was the father of the four-year-old, according to the court. The boy was considered happy, bright and served by dinosaurs.
The Germans had basically admitted the killing in the process. However, the court did not believe that it was an act of passion. The 25-year-old acted in a targeted and planned manner, said the judge. “The death of the two is a single tragedy for the family,” she said.
