City of Salzburg – Culture and Sports Committee: 51,000 euros for sports clubs decided
The promotion of mass sport was the focus of the meeting of the culture, sports and education committee on September 8th, 2022. All motions were accepted unanimously according to the official proposal:
- The PSV volleyball community Salzburg, the largest club in this sector in the state, receives an annual grant of 15,000 euros.
- Annual funding of 15,000 euros was decided for the BBU – Basketballunion Salzburg. Both a women’s and a men’s team play in the 2nd Bundesliga, a men’s team is in the state league. The junior division is also well represented with a total of eight teams.
- The ATSV is one of the most traditional multi-genre clubs in the city; the teams in the fistball section in particular have made a name for themselves with strong performances in the regional league west, in the national league and in the youth sector. The club has an annual grant of 8,000 euros, and the fistball section receives 3,000 euros.
- And for the new running event “Salzburg Half”, organized by SportImpuls GmbH, there is an organizational grant of 10,000 euros. On October 2nd, there are two competitions for running enthusiasts to choose from – a half marathon over a distance of 21.1 km (Volksgarten – Hellbrunn Bridge – Solstufe power station along the Salzach) and a five thousand meter run (several laps through the Volksgarten).
Also decided unanimously:
- In view of the current wave of inflation, the department has suggested stopping the fee increase. The valorization of parental contributions for childcare and meals (also in school day care) will therefore be suspended for 2022/23.
- For the second quarter of 2022, cultural funding totaling EUR 137,380 and funding for sports projects amounting to EUR 81,686 were achieved “in the shortest possible way” per decision by the head of department.
