Childcare: Companies organize holiday camps – salzburg.ORF.at
Business
More and more companies and employers are taking care of holiday care for the children of their workers and employees. Nine weeks of school holidays with five weeks of vacation in many professions, this dilemma is difficult for many parents to overcome.
In many places there is still a lack of all-day care. That is now gradually changing. For example, people from 30 nations work at the industrial design company Kiska in the Anifer district of Niederalm (Flachgau).
Funding from the state is still little known
Many have children, but no relatives in the region who could help out with childcare, says managing director Julian Herget: “We noticed that the mothers and fathers are starting to sweat where they could put their children. The idea was then born out of necessity and wasn’t directly planned. We were then able to set up a Kiska camp quickly.”
However, he did not know that there was also a public childcare service in the community, says the company boss: “Many parents say that childcare is very difficult to organize privately. If you don’t book in January, you won’t have childcare in the summer.”
Supported five companies with money this year
The Kiska company paid for the holiday camp itself. Here, too, nobody knew that there was funding from the state of Salzburg for this – 400 euros per week and supervised group. From the office of the responsible state councilor Andrea Klammbauer (NEOS), it is said that a total of five companies had applied this year. They were supported with a total of 7,600 euros.
