Saturday 10 September – The Gallerie d’Italia Naples: follow the golden path
A visit at Galleries of Italy, the Intesa Sanpaolo museum overlooking Toledo from the sale of the building of Piacentini of 1939. Marbles and golden metal lamps equipped with a very modern totemic inspiration forget the noise of the shiny shoes of serious bankers and accomplished secretaries to welcome the public of art lovers, the curious of the latest trend, the VIPs of the academic jet set who eagerly invaded the halls of the three-story museum that opened to the public before the summer. Forget the light after being invaded by gold, because the second floor is a perpetual penumbra from which the ghostly and intelligent presences of Gemito’s creaturesa subdued and calm atmosphere secluded dove Caravaggio he is no longer isolated in the neoclassical cage, that private room of the Zevallos palace in which Sant’Orsola and his eternal amazement emerged in his haughty solitude. During the visit you will admire the historical collections of the Galleries, from the Neapolitan Baroque to Caravaggio and Artemisia Gentileschi, from the landscape painters of the ‘700 to the romantics, from the Belle Epoque to the suggestive rooms dedicated to Gemito and the Neapolitan 800. Then the two brand new permanent sections, that of 20th century art (from the informal by Burri Fontana and Manzoni to pop art) and that of Caputi, with 522 pieces of red-figure pottery dated from the 6th to the 4th century BC and the exhibition RESTITUTIONS and the masterpieces from all Italian regions restored thanks to Intesa SanPaolo funding and very soon relocated to their places of origin.
