Milan coach Pioli after a draw in Salzburg: “Good result” – football
Upside down world in the Champions League!
While Austria’s champions, FC Salzburg, mourn the loss of a great AC Milan win after a draw, world-class opponents Milan are more than satisfied with the point-sharing.
For Milan coach Stefano Pioli, the 1-1 draw at the Red Bull Arena is “a good result. It was a good performance, but not one of ours,” said the 56-year-old at the press conference after the final whistle.
And top defender Fikayo Tomori says on “MilanTV”: “We are happy. Getting a point here is not easy.”
Pioli trusts Salzburg round of 16
Not so long ago, such statements in the Milan camp after a draw with an Austrian representative would probably not have been made in this way – Salzburg has worked hard for this form of recognition over the years.
In the UEFA club ranking, the “Bulls” are currently 21 places ahead of Milan; Before the start of the group stage, some statisticians predicted, using various objective metrics, that Austria’s champions WILL finish Group E ahead of Italy’s.
Prior to the game, Pioli was also aware that the trip to the city of Mozart would not be a walk in the park for his team: “There were no surprises, we expected a fast and well-prepared team. We expected that we might have difficulties.”
For the 1985 World Cup winners, Salzburg has a good chance of progressing to the round of 16. “If they continue to play with such enthusiasm, they have good chances of promotion. We didn’t expect the result of Dinamo Zagreb against Chelsea, so the next game between Chelsea and Salzburg will be very interesting.”
