Together with Sadio Mané, Jamal Musiala is currently Bayern’s top Bundesliga goalscorer with three goals this season. The 19-year-old showed outstanding performances in the first few weeks of the new season. The legal footer still has an express contract in Munich until 2026, but he already has to examine questions about his future.
In an interview with”sports picture” the attacking star was asked whether the English Premier League would not appeal to him. Musiala then gets enthusiastic: “The Premier League is a really strong league, that’s where the biggest stars go.”
FC Bayern: Musiala’s future is still open
He then added that he currently plays “for Bayern Munich, one of the best clubs in the world and [ich] enjoy it very much. Our team is really strong and we still have a lot to do.”
When asked whether he could imagine a whole career exclusively at Bayern, like his team-mate Thomas Müller, he said that “many factors” and “many details” came together. “I’m very happy at Bayern, but you never know what’s going to happen in six or seven years. I’m living in the here and now and enjoying the moment and I’m very happy right now.”
The reason why the Premier League exudes a special magic for Musiala also lies in his past. Born in Stuttgart, he moved to England with his parents at the age of seven and grew up there until he joined Bayern’s U17s in 2019.
In the “Sport-Bild” interview, the 19-year-old also talks about the current Champions League season. He makes it clear that Munich want to reach at least the semi-finals, but also considers very clearly: “We want to win the premier class, we have a great team. Nothing stands in our way if we continue as we have been.”
According to Musiala, the toughest competitors in the Champions League are Manchester City with Pep Guardiola, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Musiala talks about changes
In addition to the topics that revolve around the football field, Musiala also explains what else he has changed in recent months. According to this, he and assistant coach Dino Toppmöller “scored many shots after training”. In addition, he now goes to the weight room more often “to prevent knowledge”.
Musiala also that he has changed his diet: “No scrambled eggs before games, it hurts.” He also only eats spelled noodles and has switched to oat milk, “but I got used to that quickly”. Apparently, the move also seems to have helped to show better performances, as he has started three of the five Bundesliga games this season.
