The Masters of San Marino present at the European Master Swimming Championships
On Sunday the curtain fell on the European Master Swimming Championships which took place starting from 24 August in the splendid setting of Rome in the facilities of the Foro Italico and Pietralata.
The event takes place immediately after the Elite Championships and sees swimmers aged 25 and over compete, divided by age groups.
Also present were the five athletes of the San Marino Master, standard bearers of the San Marino Swimming Federation. They all performed well in their specialties, in some cases even managing to swim their personal bests in the tank. Despite the difficulties, following the training of coaches Andrea Bartolini, Elisa Celli Borgo and Luca Corsetti, at the closure for the maintenance of the Maggiore Multieventi facility in August, the athletes completed the preparation in the Tavolucci pool and in those of the surrounding area. .
At the review were the open water openings with the 3 km in the Lido of Ostia which saw the participation of Filippo Covili Faggioli, classified 31 with a time of 48’55 ”.
The pool competitions followed. First to get into the water Clelia Bartolomei who distinguished herself both in the 800 freestyle closed in 10’51 “82 which earned her thirteenth position, and in the 400 freestyle in which she finished 17th.
Same distance for Filippo Covili Faggioli who ranks 26th in the 800s and 18th in the 400s.
Once the middle distance distances were filed, it was the turn of the fast races.
Giacomo Ercola Migliorini competed in the 200 breaststroke and 50 breaststroke, finishing them respectively in 8th and 18th place, not far from his times.
Giacomo Cecchetti instead managed to improve his personal in the 50 butterfly with a time of 29 ”26 which is worth the eighteenth position overall, while in the 50 freestyle he did not succeed in the enterprise, confirming himself however on excellent times and taking himself to the 22nd place of the race most popular of the event.
Radu Jalba participated in the 50 and 100 freestyle, the latter race where he managed to improve by more than a second, winning the 26th place in the standings.
Now a week of rest waiting for the new season for the whole San Marino Master team.
