Sweden’s Prime Minister has tweeted the wrong Liz Truss
Sweden’s Prime Minister, along with a few others, seemed a little quick to congratulate the wrong Liz Truss on Twitter earlier this week.
It all started when Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson sent out a congratulatory tweet to the newly appointed British Conservative Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Sweden’s Prime Minister wrote: “Congratulations to @liztruss as she takes up the role of UK Prime Minister. Sweden and the UK will continue our deep and comprehensive cooperation. Important for our citizens, economies and security.”
But Andersson accidentally mentioned the wrong Liz Truss by tagging the account instead @LizTrussrun by a woman called Liz Trussell, instead of the account @trussliz – which is run by the new Conservative leader.
Liz Trussell – the Twitter account holder – took no time to realize the error, aptly replying: “Looking forward to visiting soon! Get the meatballs ready!”
While Andersson quickly noticed her mistake and deleted the tweets, Trussell took the opportunity to have some fun with the situation and began responding to an avalanche of tweets that also confused her with Britain’s newest Prime Minister.
After receiving a tweet from Caroline Lucas, former leader and co-leader of the Green Party, which read: “[email protected]
still don’t get it – Boris Johnson *didn’t* get Brexit done, his countless mistakes over Covid cost countless lives, and he is leaving having disgraced his office. At the same time, she has campaigned as a right-wing ideologue and will govern as such – which is a disaster for us all,” Trussell came with a cheeky reply.

While one person responded to Lucas’ tweet with, “And I bet she likes cake,” Trussell took the opportunity to add to the discourse himself, replying: “I love cake.”
Some Twitter users, like Andersson, also took the time to congratulate the wrong Liz Truss on Twitter.
One user wrote: “Many congratulations to @LizTruss job well done. Show them all that the best man for the job is a WOMAN.”
Trussell simply replied, “Preach sister”.
Others found the whole situation completely hilarious, with one Twitter user writing: “Liz Trussell who has @Liztruss
Twitter handle looks like an absolute hunk! Can we please have her as a PM instead?”
Even after Twitter users realized their mistake, Liz Trussell expertly continued the joke.
A person trying to mention actual Liz Truss tweeted: “@liztruss if you give us maccies all day breakfast I’ll be honest with you – promise,”
But when they clocked the mistake, they tweeted: “Wait damn, this isn’t actually Liz Truss.”
To which Trussell replied a little less than prime minister: “Don’t worry, I’ve got you.”
Liz Truss defeated Rishi Sunak in the vote to succeed Boris Johnson as leader of the Conservative Party and country yesterday (September 5) and will meet Her Majesty The Queen at Balmoral today – marking her first official day as US Prime Minister. UK.
