New Muslim party in Sweden tries to ban desecration of the Koran
TEHRAN (IQNA) – A new Muslim party in Sweden is trying to ban desecration of the Holy Quran.
The newly started Muslim Nuance Party is running in the upcoming Swedish election, which is scheduled for September 11.
According to party leader Mikail Yüksel, Koran burning is not a statement, but an action “directly aimed at Muslims”.
Nuance describes itself as a party that focuses on the rights of minorities, with Muslims as the main focus. Nuance representatives have argued that the established parties have failed the minorities, not least Muslim groups.
Among other things, the party applies to the Act on care of young people (LVU) based on claims that Swedish authorities kidnap Muslim children.
– We want to review the cases where there are requests from the parents if they consider themselves to be unfairly treated, says Mikail Yüksel to SVT.
Overall, the Nuance party said it was particularly focused on three issues it considers most pressing: Islamophobia, integration and housing shortages. The party’s goal is to ensure that Muslims and Afro-Swedes receive a special minority status in Sweden’s constitution.
Koran burning has become a hot-button issue after many actions by the Danish-Swedish anti-immigration politician Rasmus Paludan. Earlier this year, protests during this year’s Easter break triggered by Paludan’s actions in several Swedish cities, including Stockholm and Malmö, cost the Swedish budget tens of millions of kroner (millions of dollars).
