Micro-enterprise, decryption of the latest data » PACA’s economic and political newsletter
Despite the health crisis which had a strong impact on economic activity, particularly during confinement, business creation broke records in France in 2020 and 2021.
Last year, 995,900 businesses were created, an increase of 17% compared to 2020. Micro-businesses are on the rise since with 641,500 registrations in 2021, they represent more than 60% of all new businesses registered last year. Thus, as of December 31, 2021, France had 2,228,497 micro-fr[1]contractors. For the first 7 months of the year, the pace of micro-enterprise creations (+367,741) is likely to be the same as that observed in 2021 with an average monthly level of 52,534 new registrations (53,458 on average per month in 2021).
At the request of STA-Portage.com, the agency specializing in data FLASHS has drawn up an inventory of micro-enterprises in the heart of French regions and departments, based on the latest data published by URSSAF and INSEE in July 2022. If it confirms the strong and continuous increase in the number of micro-entrepreneurs, this study highlights important transformations according to the geographical areas of establishment. The proportion of micro-entrepreneurs among the active population is indeed much higher in the regions located in the southern half of France and in Ile de France.[1]of France.
