H&M Foundation comes forward to support Pakistan
In a commendable move, the H&M Foundation has come forward to support Pakistan, which is currently battling floods.
The H&M Foundation donates USD 250,000 to the Red Cross to support the people in the country affected by the disaster.
In a statement, the H&M Foundation said Pakistan is experiencing abnormal monsoon rainfall almost three times higher than the past 30-year average, resulting in uncontrollable urban flooding and flash floods and landslides across the country.
It is worth mentioning here that on August 25, the government of Pakistan officially declared a “national emergency” following the monsoon threat, which has killed over 1,000 people, including 348 children, since June 14.
– The flood has also affected the infrastructure badly, and so far 949,858 houses have been damaged across the country. In addition, 719,558 livestock have been lost and more than 3,000 km of roads and 149 bridges have been damaged. The current rainy season and floods continue to affect already vulnerable and deprived districts, which have suffered high food insecurity and where many people have not recovered from the effects of covid-19, the statement added.
