There San Marino Academy continues in its campaign to strengthen the squad that will start at the starting blocks of the championship futsal from A2 Series.
A new face for the attack, that of Irene Dominicithat is ready for a new life on the parquet after years of experience in the world of football: “I’ve always played 11-a-side football, this will be my first season in futsal. He always had the idea, and this season I decided, also to try and evaluate if – as often happened to me several times in summer tournaments – I can have fun if not compared to eleven-a-side football. Beyond tournaments with teammates and friends who play futsal properly, before now I have never approached this discipline 100%, in all its tactical and technical facets. It is a great stimulus for me ”.
In the recent past as a football player, the experiences in Riccione and SPAL. And if in your career you have played mainly as a defender, your new career in futsal also brings with it a tactical metamorphosis, far from rare in the transition from football and futsal: “I see myself as a pivot, absolutely. I imagine myself more as a connecting player and who exploits her physical characteristics: I will try to make my 180 centimeters make the most of and free myself from shooting, which is probably my best gift. The first contact with the San Marino Academy? Valentina Giardina put the flea in my ear. For months she has been telling me that futsal is the right sport for me and this year, after a tournament played together, I too am convinced. She put me in touch with the club managers and here I am ”.
What short and medium term goal for Dominici? “From this year I expect to improve and grow, bringing my contribution to the team compatibly with my characteristics. From a character point of view I am a rather intense and aggressive player. I want to add determination to an already solid and strong group: competition is the foundation of sport. I hate it tremendously and will try to share this fame of victories with my losing companions ”.
It will not be a placement in a completely new environment, for Dominici, who in addition to Giardina, knows other girls from the Academy: “For some time I have known Giorgi and Mordenti. We spoke with the coach a few weeks ago and he made a very good impression on me. He did not put any pressure on me, underlining how futsal and football are quite different sports and that I will have to take my times, but that I will be able to adapt well to the discipline. For my part, there is a great desire to learn and make myself available: we talked at length about the role of the pivot ”.
