Even Sweden’s Prime Minister has tweeted the wrong Liz Truss
woman named Liz Trussell has sent witty replies to a flurry of tweets mistakenly sent to her instead of Britain’s new Prime Minister Liz Truss.
Trussell has the Twitter account “liztruss”, which political leaders and members of the public have mistakenly used to either congratulate or criticize the new Tory leader following her victory on Monday. Mrs Truss has the Twitter handle ‘trussliz’.
Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson posted a congratulatory tweet to who she thought was the new Tory leader on Monday.
Mrs Trussell replied to the tweet saying: “Looking forward to visiting soon! Get the meatballs ready.”
Andersson’s tweet has since been corrected, but she’s far from the only one to have made the mistake – she even cheekily tagged the royal family’s Twitter account, writing: “I’m available tomorrow”.
On Tuesday she wrote: “Just getting ready to go up to Balmoral! Looking forward to meeting the Corgis”.
Boris Johnson and Mrs Truss will travel to Balmoral, in Aberdeenshire, on Tuesday morning, where Johnson will offer his resignation to the Queen and she will appoint Truss as Prime Minister – the third woman to hold the post in history – before returning to London .
