City of Salzburg – old town shuttle again a great success
As of August 31, the Old Town Shuttle Service for 2022 was terminated. The numbers are impressive again: With 11,901 passengers, the previous year’s result was exceeded by 829 people. And this despite the fact that there were fewer rainy days this summer than in 2021 and the shuttle service only started on July 4th.
The 4,395 cars parked at the Park+Ride at the exhibition center were 258 more than in the previous year. Thanks to the combination ticket, almost 8,800 vehicles entering and exiting the old town could be avoided.
“The figures show that our joint service is well received. The development is pleasing and confirms us. In the future, the inner city area should also be relieved of tourist private transport from Park+Ride Süd. The old town shuttle should also become cheaper. The preparatory work for this is in progress,” Mayor Harald Preuner sums up.
The Old Town Shuttle
In July and August, day visitors can park for free in combination with the old town shuttle at the Park+Ride car park on the exhibition grounds. Shuttle line 18 takes visitors directly to the old town and back in just a few minutes without stopping. The shuttle ticket costs three euros per person from the stand conductor (two euros for children aged 6-15). Parking at the Park+Ride car park Messe is free in combination with the shuttle ticket. The shuttle bus is organized by Tourismus Salzburg GmbH.
