For the first time in 4.5 years, the International Hardware Fair 2022 is showing new products and trends from the hardware industry in the Cologne exhibition halls.
The IEM 2022 comes at a time when the challenges for the industry are immense: The procurement of energy and raw materials has developed in a new dimension. The corona pandemic and the ongoing war in Ukraine have either completely cut numerous supply chains or temporarily put them on hold. Full warehouses and order books are faced with a shortage of components and declining consumption. Skilled workers are being searched for. “What better place than the International Hardware Fair in Cologne to meet a new and existing partner and discuss solutions with colleagues from all over the world,” emphasizes Matthias Becker, Director of the IEM.
In addition to face-to-face discussions, the IEM focuses on the feel and functionality of products: Not only hand tools want to be held in the hand, viewed from all sides and tried out. All segments of the IEM benefit from the on-site experience: from power tools to ladders and scaffolding, furniture fittings and fastening technology to classic do-it-yourself needs. The DIY boulevard in cooperation with the manufacturers’ association Haus & Garten eV in Hall 11.1 includes 60 international exhibitors this year and reaches a new dimension with a length of 272 meters. In a special show, the Tool Industry Association is presenting the contribution made by German tool manufacturers to addressing the future issues of sustainability and electromobility. On September 26 at 11 a.m., the participating companies and association representatives will be available for talks at Stand D001 C002 in Hall 10.1 for talks as part of a press event.
