Animal godparents meeting: When dusk falls over the Salzburg Zoo
At the “godfathers meeting” in the Salzburg Zoo, there were insights into the evening hours and a “monkey” surprise. The capuchin monkeys were presented with a large candy in front of the astonished eyes of the godfather, from which they first had to unwrap the food.
SALZBURG. Curious, the otter stretches its head up, but then tiredness wins, it curls up in its burrow and it is only with difficulty that visitors can make out the silvery fur in the darkness of its burrow.
A sign next to the enclosure reminds us that for many animals in the zoo the night dies and the associated leap into dreamland begins. The Salzburg Zoo invited its sponsors to the animal kingdom for an exciting and exclusive evening, during which, among other things, commented feedings were shown.
“The best thing about sponsorship is that you give the animals something back and actively support species protection,” enthuses Judith Werlberger, who is responsible for sponsorships at the zoo. She explains that the sponsorships enable the animals to have that “little extra”.
Penguins are very popular as sponsors
Anyone interested in patenting can contact Ms. Werlberger via the zoo’s website. This then sends out a list of animals on which interested parties can see which animal falls into which price category.
The big cats and the rhino belong to the most expensive category, the budgerigars to the immediate one. The penguins are very popular as sponsors, as are the red panda bears, followed by the mini pigs and prairie dogs. Basically, the following applies: “The animals may have several private individuals as sponsors, but only one company as sponsor,” says Werlberger. The district newspapers are also a godfather: for the alpaca lady “Stella Cadente”, who was recently sheared at the zoo.
“Alpacas’ colors are variable and the animals communicate with both body language and vocal language. This diversity also suits us well in a complicated way, because as a media company we play different channels. at to exciting podcasts or videos,” says the managing director of RegionalMedien Salzburg Michael Kretz about the curious and intelligent godmother.
Farewell: When the godparent dies
“We are very open about the topic,” explains Werlberger. When the godparent dies, she calls the godparents personally and clarifies how to proceed.
