Vienna Vikings, rivals of the Barcelona Dragons in the semifinals
The Barcelona Dragons met their rival in the semifinals of the European League of American Football (ELF) on Sunday. The Vienna Vikings will face the people from Reus in a one-game tie that will be played in the Austrian capital on Sunday at 2:45 p.m. The people from Reus will seek that place for the grand final in Klagenfurt where the title of European champion will be at stake. The other semi-final will be played by the Swarco Tirol and the Hamburg Sea Devils on German soil.
The balance of the Dragons against the Austrian team is negative. The two confrontations ended with the Reus defeat. In Reus the score was 27-20, while in Vienna, on the same stage as the semifinals, the Greens fell 18-24.
The Tarragona team fell in the last game of the regular season against the Hamburg Sea Devils, who ended up being the best team in the competition. Under the storm that fell on the lawn of the municipal Reus, Andrew Weidinger’s pupils staged a comeback that was half finished, because in the last action of the match the Germans achieved victory (21-24).
Despite everything, the regular season of the Barcelona Dragons can be described as remarkable. They have made it to the play-offs with players leading their respective rankings: Zach Edwards the best of the quarterbacks and Kyle Sweet of the receivers and Alejandro Fernández also standing out among the defensive players.
