Towards the return of the historic Rimini-San Marino train
The historic train is back white-blue that connects Rimini a San Marino: the green light for the restoration project was given by the Minister of Tourism Massimo Garavaglia and by the Secretary of State of the Republic of San Marino, Federico Pedini Amatiin the presence of the President of the State Railways Foundation Luigi Francesco Cantamessa.
“We started the process for the feasibility study with the ok for the drafting of the project which is already “manageable” from a financial point of view, because it could even self-finance totally. The Mitur will support the operation because it is a strong tourist attraction for the whole territory ”, commented Garavaglia.
Pedini Amati is also satisfied: “Thanks to the direct intervention of the Mitur and the FS Foundation we are in fact beyond the feasibility study, because we are already moving towards the recovery of the first section of the white-blue train that connects the two Unesco World Heritage centers, Borgo Maggiore And City of San Marino“.
That of historic trains has returned to being a particularly active segment of the Italian tourism chain: only this year three itineraries in Lombardy have been reactivated (including the Besanino), the historical section Ancona-Fabriano-Pergolathe train from Naples to Pompeii (Pietrarsa express). And with the resources made available by the Pnrr for tourism, evocative sections of great landscape appeal such as the Noto-Pachino and the Alcantara-Randazzo in Sicily and the Gioia del Colle-Altamura-Rocchetta Sal in Puglia.
