Health – Munich – Holetschek: Federal government leaves clinics to their fate – Bavaria
Munich (dpa / lby) – Bavaria’s Minister of Health Klaus Holetschek is demanding rapid financial aid for hospitals from the federal government in view of the rising energy costs. The federal government should no longer remain idle, otherwise many hospitals would find themselves in an economic imbalance that threatened their very existence, said the CSU politician in an interview with the “Mediengruppe Bayern” (Monday edition). “It is simply unacceptable that the federal government simply leaves the clinics to their fate.”
According to him, the clinics are in a very difficult situation. “Despite massive cost increases and at the same time corona-related staff shortages, you absolutely have to remain able to act.” In particular, the sharp rise in energy and electricity prices, but also further increases in material costs, cannot currently be compensated for. “They also endanger the liquidity of the clinics.”
The conference of health ministers has already asked the federal government to develop a quick solution, said Holetschek. The additional costs could be compensated for in the short term by granting a surcharge during the year. “But nothing is moving in Berlin,” criticized the minister.
