FC Bayern Munich: That’s why Thomas Müller Nagelsmann’s Inter trump card! | Sports
Müller always plays – under he is the Inter expert in the Bayern jersey!
After his break in the 1-1 draw against Union Berlin (subbed on in the 61st minute) on Wednesday (9 p.m. / DAZN live) at Inter Milan, Thomas Müller (32) will be back in the Bayern starting XI.
The international is looking forward to the game at San Siro: “It’s not the most modern stadium anymore, but I’ve been there as a spectator as a child and I’m still honored by the story. If you’ve ever sat in the upper tier, you know what’s going on.”
With him, Julian Nagelsmann (35) not only brings the midfield organizer and tactics director into the team, but also the only player in the squad who has ever played against Inter in a Bayern jersey.
The 2014 World Champion played against Inter eleven years ago in the round of 16 in March 2011. At 2:3 he made it 2:0. Also in the final of the Champions League 2010 (0:2) the original Bavarian (since 2000 in the club) played 90 minutes against the Italians.
Müller: “It’s a very important, decisive game for both teams. The opening game in such a group phase (also with Barcelona; editor’s note) is simply very important for the feeling and the further course, in order not to come under pressure.
The balance sheet in Italy is very good for Bavaria!
The record champions always won in Milan (three wins), but never against Inter in Munich (one draw, two defeats).
And: Since losing to Inter in 2011, Bayern have been unbeaten (eight wins) in ten games against Italian clubs (AS and Lazio Roma, Napoli and Juve).
Nagelsmann has another Inter trump card in his squad: Ex-Juve star Matthijs de Ligt (23/seven games, four wins). The defense boss played in Turin from 2019 until this summer and came to Munich for a fee of 67 million euros (plus 10 million euros possible bonus payments)!
