More than 100 Russian athletes will take part in the Open Championship of the Republic of Belarus in Paralympic athletics | RCC
From 5 to 9 September in Minsk (Republic of Belarus) the Paralympic team of Russia will take part in international athletics competitions.
In total, the team consists of 77 athletes with lesions of the musculoskeletal system and 24 with visual impairment. Among them are high-ranking athletes of the country and the world: 3-time champion of the Paralympic Games Margarita Goncharova; 3-time champion of the Paralympic Games Evgeny Shvetsov; 2-time champions of the Paralympic Games Dmitry Safronov, Elena Pautova, Fedor Trikolich; Paralympic champions Andrey Vdovin, Nikita Prokhorov Denis Gnezdilov, Alexander Yaremchuk, Evgeny Torsunov, Albert Khinchagov, Anton Kulyatin and others.
In the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the PPR, 3-time champion of the Paralympic Games Olga Semenova.
The solemn opening ceremony of the tournament will take place on September 6 at 11:00 at the stele of Minsk – the city of a hero.
Competitions are held at the Dynamo Olympic Stadium. The sports program includes running at distances from 100 to 1500 m, high and high jumps, discus throwing, javelin throwing, shot put and club throwing.
The country’s Paralympic team will arrive in the capital of Belarus on September 5. On September 6, intensive training is held. September 7 and 8 are competition days.
Athletics is the most medal-intensive sport in the Paralympic Games. Included in the program of the 1st Paralympic Summer Games in 1960 in Rome (Italy). Athletes compete in running, jumping (in height, height), throwing (discus, javelin, club), shot put and marathon. At the XVI Paralympic Summer Games in Tokyo (Japan), Russian athletes won 38 medals: 12 gold, 13 silver and 13 bronze.
