Ultralight crash in Calvados: two people dead

UN microlight crash killed two people this Saturday September 3, 2022. The machine crashed at the level of Noron-l’Abbaye, near Falaise (Calvados).
The ULM took off “a priori around 7:30 am from Caen”, explains the Calvados gendarmerie. He was to land at Blois. According to the gendarmerie, the two victims aged 65 and 69 are from Calvados.
Disappeared from radar
Some time after takeoff, the ULM “disappeared from control radars, continues the gendarmerie.
The SATER plan (Aero-Terrestrial Rescue plan set up at the departmental level with the objective of ground research and the precise location of aircraft, editor’s note) has been unveiled. A helicopter came from the English Channel to fly over the flight area but saw nothing. A drone sent by an agent of the BEA (Bureau of Investigations and Analysis for Civil Aviation Safety), could not see anything either. It was the ground patrol of the Falaise gendarmerie that discovered the ULM”.
An investigation is open to determine the circumstances of this crash. It is carried out by the air transport gendarmerie.
